Hikings

All three hikes are located in Santa Barbara County, California. 1. San Ysidro Canyon, Montecito. Known as San Ysidro Trail, this hike follows along a small stream with various pools and trickling waterfalls to a main waterfall, which (when full) drops 60 feet. Numerous other trails lead off to the east and west from the main track. A trip to the main falls and back is a little over 3 miles, with an elevation of about 1000 feet and takes a couple hours. 2. Toro Canyon Park, Carpinteria. This trail is picked up towards the back end of the park's picnicing area (near the huge rock outcroppings). It's a short loop that leads up a hill to a gazebo at the top with a nice view of the orchards on the foothills. The loop is about 1 mile, up approximately 300 feet, taking no more than a half hour to complete. 3. Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens, Santa Barbara. There's an per adult fee to enter the gardens, where you'll find numerous loop trails winding around the various trees, plants and flowers. Highlights include a redwood grove, a monk-built aqueduct and dam, and Japanese tea house and gardens. The outer, longest loop is approximately 2 miles, includes elevation change maybe 50 feet (some stairs) and takes around 2 hours if you're walking at a leisurely pace.
